Course Eligibility

Key Eligibility Criteria for MA Animation at Ulster University

  • Applicants are typically required to have a 2:2 Honours degree or an international equivalent in a relevant area of studies such as animation, games, visual arts, creative media, or film.
  • Applicants from other areas will be considered with the submission of a strong portfolio of visual work.
  • Candidates also need to demonstrate their work samples through a portfolio or showreel proposal. This will be followed by an interview.
  • In case of discipline shift, the applicant needs to represent a coherent rationale & evidence prerequisite knowledge, skills along with a relevant set of work experiences.
  • APL (Advanced Prior learning) is also considered as evidence of excellent ability ultimately making the student eligible for this course.
  • Applicants who lack higher-level academic qualifications but exhibit comprehensive professional, industrial & commercial experience are also encouraged to apply for this program. 

Exams: English Language Requirements

  • IELTS grade - An IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each test component or an equivalent is acceptable.
