Course Eligibility

Key Eligibility Criteria for MSc Biotechnology Research at Ulster University

  • Students should hold a 2nd class honors degree or higher in the bioscience subject from a recognized UK University, Republic of Ireland, or from a recognized national awarding body to apply for this course.
  • Students who have an honors degree in a Bioscience subject e.g. Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry from an internationally recognized university from another country are also eligible to apply for this course.
  • Students who have secured a minimum of 50% score points in the equivalent standard in a related subject are also eligible to apply for this course.
  • Students also need to show proof of competence in written & spoken English (IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5 or equivalent) to the admission panel.
  • If a candidate has proven experiential training, a portfolio of written evidence demonstrating the meeting of graduate qualities (including subject-specific outcomes, as determined by the Course Committee) then he/she is also eligible to apply for the course.

Exams: English Language Requirements

  • IELTS grade - An IELTS score of 6.0 with no band score of 5.5 in each test component or an equivalent is acceptable.
