The University of Nottingham has jumped 17 places in the global university ranks, it has been announced.
The institution now stands at 141 in the Times Higher Education world rankings as the University of Oxford became the first university top place for six year in a row.
The annual list rates more than 1,600 universities from 99 countries and regions based on five areas: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.
Nottingham beat the University of Exeter, which has a ranking of 143.
The UK has seen some good results this year, Covid-19 has provided new challenges to add to those related to the impact of Brexit.
These challenges imply the UK maintains to strive hard to attract international students and academic talent to contribute to its knowledge economy in both the short and long term.
