University of St Andrews Strives to Aid Zambian Students By Providing Them Recycled Laptops & iPhones

Today, they have been benefiting students who hail from Zambian families by providing them decent smartphones & laptops through a joint scheme which is due to a partnership formed between Zambian Non-Governmental Organisation, Sport in Action (SIA) & the University of St Andrews. This wonderful initiative has been taken by the IT department of St Andrews who’s accountable for recycling all the IT gadgets not required by the university in the near future. To take this remarkable initiative forward, the management from the IT Department teamed up with the Saint Sports and Reusing IT Edinburgh for sending advanced, high quality & refurbished laptops & mobile gadgets to the students who belong to poor & deprived families in Zambia. These laptops will also be given to the overseas organizations that work in the educational, health & agriculture sector at a global scale.
As per this partnership, 40 laptops & 50 iPhones will be distributed to the students living in the Zambia families during the summer season of 2022. All the IT gadgets which will be provided to the Zambia students will be taken from the University of St Andrews and other renowned partner universities to Zambia as a part of this collaboration ,i.e, Volunteer Zambia Project. Stephen Stewart ( Sports Director ~ University of St Andrews ) stated that the entire St Andrews fraternity is extremely happy to support SIA (Sports in Action) for this initiative. He also stated that the expenditure of distributing recycled laptops and iPhones to the Zambia students is built on a volunteering activity for the last 13 years altogether with Sports in Action (SIA) authorities. Moreover, warm behavior, social responsibility, commitment & sustainability adopted by St Andrews are also the core reasons for the development of this provision.
Accomplishing this unique initiative became possible due to the Sports in Action (SIA) who focuses on the lives of the people living in the society through sports & extracurricular activities. It’s a non-government organization so this initiative of donating the devices would help them for developing their program delivery & administration in Zambia. Through this initiative students from the University of St Andrews get spectacular opportunities of working as a volunteer in Zambia with the Sports in Action (SIA) to improvise the lives, education & sports skills of the peers living in Zambia.
